Where Did The Idea For Apollo Salvatoir Come From?
For as long as I can remember I have gone to bed with stories playing out in my mind. My imagination has always been louder than the real world. I have often preferred to turn off a television show or radio program because the story playing out in my mind was more interesting than the one being depicted on screen.
Apollo Salvatoir first entered into my awareness when I was ten years old. At that time, I was taking karate lessons, and I suppose that my mind got carried away in creating a world around a boy my same age. The story evolved over the ensuing decades as I laid down each night and played out Apollo’s adventures in my mind. As I grew older, Apollo remained the same age. Forever a ten year old in my mind. Ling joined the cast very early on, as did the members of both of their Xué.
By the time I was eleven years old, the lore, the creed, the dance, the religion, the village, the temple, and the story for how Apollo ended up in the village had all been created. As the years went on hundreds of other characters were added as I discovered them and their part of the saga.
While the main story arc has always revolved around Apollo and Ling, there are many other characters who also have interesting stories to share. Perhaps if given enough time, I will write some of these as well.
